A few hundred years back, the line between the human world and the youkai world got thin enough for people to just wander across. Sakurashin grew up around that scar. Now the city sits on seven sacred pillars that pull youkai in like a porch light, and the Hiizumi Life Counseling Office handles whatever comes with them. The mayor is a teenager. One of her coworkers reads minds, another summons objects just by saying their names, and the office director can shove a youkai back to the other side with his bare hands. Mostly they do odd jobs and settle fights. Then a man with bad intentions shows up, and Strikes stop being rare. Ordinary humans suddenly wake up with youkai powers and tear through the streets. Political opponents smell blood. Something worse is already inside the city limits. The office has to keep its home standing, which is hard when the mayor is also a target and the director's power might not be enough. Can a handful of kids hold a whole city together when the thing coming for it knows them better than they know themselves?
