Kou spends his afternoons hauling sports gear to the Tsukishima family cafe, where four sisters live above a batting cage. He and Aoba, the third one, can barely stand each other. She pitches like a natural. He has never joined a team in his life, though he keeps quietly smashing balls in her family's cage and secretly dreams of matching her form one day. The one person who smooths things over is Wakaba, Aoba's older sister. She and Kou were born on the same day, and everyone already talks about them as a future couple. Aoba hates that talk more than anyone. Then grief hits both households at once, hard enough to stop everything. The deliveries, the jokes, the arguments over who gets Wakaba's attention: all of it goes quiet, and the two families have to figure out how to keep walking forward. What is left for Kou and Aoba is a field, a bat, and years of unfinished business between them. Can two people who fight this badly ever stand on the same team?
