An earthquake flattened most of Tokyo, and the city came back fast, too fast, thanks to boomers: humanoid robots that now do the heavy lifting for cheap. Genom Corporation built them, got obscenely rich off them, and its reach stretches all the way into orbit. Then some of the machines start to break down. Something snaps in their neural wiring, and a boomer that was mopping a floor one minute is tearing through a street the next. The Advanced Police were formed to handle exactly this, though rumors keep circling about another crew, the Knight Sabers, who show up out of nowhere in powered armor and vanish again. Linna Yamazaki comes to Tokyo chasing that rumor, hoping to meet her heroes. What she actually finds is a bar singer named Priscilla, a wealthy entrepreneur named Sylia, and a loud, cheerful girl named Nene, four women with four very different reasons for standing in the same room. Then the fighting gets worse, and the question stops being who the Knight Sabers are. It becomes what Genom actually buried inside its own machines. And if the boomers were designed to fail, who was meant to get hurt?
