Rachel Gardner wakes up in a basement with no memory of how she got there. Her eyes are empty. She doesn't want out. She wants to stop existing. Then she runs into a man wrapped in bandages, swinging a scythe, and he's got his own plan: get free. So they strike a deal. She guides him through the building, floor by floor, and once they're outside, he kills her. Simple. Except the higher they climb, the worse it gets. Every floor has someone waiting, and every one of them acts like they already know Rachel. They talk to her like she belongs here. Like she's been here before. Zack keeps cutting his way through, and Rachel keeps following a man who promised to end her, which is maybe the only thing keeping her alive. What is this building to her? Why does everyone inside seem to recognize a thirteen year old girl who just wants to die?
