Ichigo Amano is fourteen and clumsy enough to trip over her own feet. She can't do much of anything, except eat cake with total joy. At a sweets festival she runs into Henri Lucas, a famous patissier, and something strange happens: the man tastes what she tastes, and her tongue turns out to be a gift nobody told her about. So he sends her to St. Marie Academy, a school where desserts are serious business. She says yes, partly because her grandmother was a confectioner too. Then comes the catch. Thanks to Henri's recommendation, Ichigo skips straight into the top class, where the school's three "Sweets Princes" study. Sennosuke makes traditional Japanese sweets. Satsuki works with candied flowers. Makoto is a chocolatier, and not exactly thrilled to have a beginner in his kitchen. Each of them has a Sweets Spirit, a tiny fairy that helps make a patissier's dreams come true, and Ichigo has one too. Now she has to keep up with kids who have been baking their whole lives, with nothing but her taste buds and a lot of stubbornness. Can a girl who has never made a decent cake survive a class full of prodigies?
