In 2060 the world needs people who can handle things bullets cannot touch, so the Bureau of Paranormal Defense handpicks its best agents for the Phantom Squad. Captain Hao Yuan takes his team after a treasure. He trusts the wrong man, and Darrick is waiting with an ambush. Most of the squad dies. Hao Yuan goes off a cliff. That should be the end of him, except the treasure he was sent to grab ends up inside his body instead. The Stone of Immortality drags him back from death and hands him something else: the power to stop time, even rewind it. So he vanishes. He keeps his head down, watches over Gu Xiao Xi, the little sister of a teammate who did not come home, and tells himself the past can stay buried. Then blue veins start showing up on people's skin in Y City, creeping wider until the body gives out. Xiao Xi catches it. Hao Yuan walks back through the doors of the Bureau he ran from, this time with a sharp agent named Xia Rou, a pint sized genius called Tong Xiaoxiao, and Zhan Peng, a gangster who talks like he is in a comic book. New Phantom Squad, same enemies waiting. Can a man who can rewind the clock around him change the one moment he has been running from for three years?
