Zhang Chulan comes home to bury his grandfather properly and finds the grave already dug up. Someone took the body. While he's poking around the cemetery in the dark, a tomb raider posing as his grandfather's granddaughter jumps him, then raises a swarm of zombies and leaves him there to die. He survives because of qi, the trick his grandfather drilled into him years ago. Back at school, he thinks it's over. It isn't. The same woman, Feng Baobao, the one who fed him to the dead, corners him again. She works for a government outfit that deals with qi wielders, and just like that she drags him into a delivery company that is nothing but a cover for their real business. Now every faction out there wants the power Zhang Chulan supposedly inherited, and he has no idea who to trust. Some of them want to use him, some want him dead. Can a kid who only ever wanted a quiet life figure out which hand to shake before one of them buries him next to his grandfather?
