The prince of the Levamme Empire picks a girl, Juana del Moral, and swears the war will be over within a year of their wedding. Word gets out. The Amatsukami come for her instead, hitting her family's home to cut the bride off before she ever reaches the altar. So the San Maltilia Airforce does something desperate. They hire Charles, a mercenary pilot of mixed blood, to fly Juana to the capital in secret. Twelve thousand kilometers of open ocean and enemy sky, one small two-seater reconnaissance plane, and a passenger worth more than he'll ever earn. Everyone calls her the most beautiful woman in the empire. That doesn't make the trip any shorter or the bullets any slower. Charles takes the job. A lone seaplane against a whole war was never going to be simple. What's waiting for them out over that water, and who exactly is chasing whom?
