A cursed piano sits somewhere in those woods. Someone died near it, they say. A boy named Daigaku decides the new kid should go play it. Shuuhei walks in expecting a prank. What he gets is Kai Ichinose, a scrappy local kid who plants himself in front of the thing and says it belongs to him. Only he can play it. Then he does, and the sound stops Shuuhei cold. Word gets around. The music teacher, Ajino, hears Kai too, and suddenly the boy who never took a lesson is sitting at a piano with someone actually teaching him. Two kids, one rich and trained, one wild and broke, both aiming at the same stage. But Kai's got no money, no connections, and a reputation as a problem child. Can raw talent alone carry him there?
