Summer is coming and with it the brass band competition, but there is another event on the calendar: the ensemble contest, Ancon for short. Small groups of five to eight players get up on stage, and that setup does something a full orchestra never can. Except Kitauji High has over fifty members, and a lot of them want in. So the club has to run its own audition to pick a representative team before the Kyoto preliminaries, and Kumiko, barely settled into her new role as club president, is the one who has to sort it out. Then Reina shows up wanting to form a group of her own, and she asks Kumiko to join her. Sounds simple. It is not. Between clashing egos, hurt feelings and everyone fighting for a spot, the whole thing turns into a mess fast. Can Kumiko hold the club together and still get her own group through the preliminaries?
