At Seiso Academy the uniforms tell you everything. Grey for the general students, spotless white for the music kids, and the two groups barely mix. Kahoko Hino wears grey. One morning, running late, she bumps into Lili, a tiny music fairy nobody else can see. Weird, sure, but she shrugs it off and keeps moving. Then the festival roster goes up. Every name on it belongs to a white uniform. Then the announcer reads hers. Kahoko, who has never touched an instrument, is suddenly entered in a schoolwide classical competition. Lili finds her before she can panic and presses a violin into her hands, a strange one with golden strings that seems to play for anyone who means it. Now she stands on stage beside kids who have practiced their whole lives, some of whom clearly resent her being there at all, and each round she has to prove she belongs and figure out what the fairy actually wants from her. Can a girl with no training keep up with the best musicians in school, and what happens when the magic stops covering for her?
