Wang Xiaoxiu has loved Shen Yao since they were kids, and when they end up at the same college, he finally learns she feels the same way. For about five minutes, life is good. Then the rumors start, and Sun Jun, a local thug who has decided Yao belongs to him, comes looking for blood. Xiaoxiu throws punches he cannot possibly land and ends up face down in a river. What he finds at the bottom is not water. A light pulses in the mud, and the moment his fingers close around it, the thing melts into his skin and drags him somewhere else entirely. A voice with no face calls itself the Horadric Cube and calmly informs him he is its new host. The upside: he can now blink from one spot to another, and his fists suddenly know what they are doing. The catch is the gems. The cube wants them, swallows them, gets stronger, and so does Xiaoxiu, which is convenient since Sun Jun is still out there and the cube is clearly not telling him everything. How many stones does a guy have to feed a talking box before he finds out what it actually wants?
