A train ride home. Taku Morisaki is heading back to his little seaside town for a class reunion, and somewhere along the way the memories start coming back. That's when Rikako Muto walks into his head again, the girl from Tokyo who transferred into his class one spring. Quiet. Top grades. Great at sports. And so prickly that nobody really wanted to get close to her. Only his best friend Yutaka Matsuno bothered, and even that didn't seem to get him very far. Then a school trip changes everything. Rikako asks Taku for a loan, a small thing really, just money, except it's the first time they speak and nothing between the three of them is ever the same after that. Taku gets pulled deeper into her life, into whatever she's carrying around from before, and Yutaka notices. Yutaka does not like it. Now Taku is stuck: one friend on one side, this impossible girl on the other, and his own feelings somewhere in the middle getting harder to name every day. She was supposed to be just the strange new girl in class. So why can't he stop thinking about her?
