Yukiteru Amano talks to the air. He has no friends, so he invented one: a floating, grinning thing called Deus Ex Machina, the so called lord of time and space. Every boring thing he sees goes straight into his phone. A train delay. A classmate's shoes. He is a boy who watches and never joins in. Then his imaginary friend answers back. Deus hands him a diary that writes tomorrow before tomorrow happens. Sounds like a gift. It is not. Yukiteru is now one of twelve players in a game where the last one standing takes Deus's place, and the other eleven have diaries of their own. Some see the future. Some see him. The boy who spent his life on the sidelines is suddenly the most watched person in the city. This short episode shows how it all starts: the first entry, the first rule, the first person who wants him dead. He wanted a friend. He got a countdown instead. So what happens when the diary predicts your own death, and the only way to survive is to stop being a bystander?
