The prince, the bird, and the attendant went back to their islands, and life in town was supposed to get quiet again. It didn't. School days are running out, and everyone's future is already pulling them apart: Mochizou has his eye on a university in Tokyo, while Tamako stays right where she's always been, behind the counter of the family mochi shop. Then comes the part that changes everything. Mochizou has been in love with her since they were kids, and he's never said one word about it. Now every box he packs makes the confession harder to avoid. He wants to tell her. He also wants to disappear without a scene, because saying it out loud might ruin the one friendship he can't imagine losing. So he circles her, waiting for a moment that never feels right, while she has no idea the person across the street is about to walk out of her life. Will he get the words out before the train leaves, or will he board it with everything still stuck in his throat?
