Episode 3 · Strait Jacket

Strait Jacket

Magic and science sit side by side in this world, which sounds fine until people start pushing magic too far. Overuse it and you stop being human. You turn into one of the monsters. That is where Rayotte Steinberg comes in. A tactical sorcerist who works alone, he hunts these creatures down, one exploding shot at a time. Here is the catch. The straight jacket he wears, the mold, is the only thing anchoring him to his own skin. The staff in his hand blows apart whatever he points it at. Every spell he casts drags him one step closer to the same fate as the things he kills. Hold back, and he is the one who dies. So he walks that line, fight after fight, until a job forces him to look at something he did years ago. Something he has been outrunning. What happens when the man in the straight jacket finally has to face the reason he put it on?
