A massive earthquake hits Kumamoto. In Tokyo, Natsuna, a college student, keeps calling a friend who won't pick up. Itsuki is out there somewhere, and the silence on the other end is worse than any news report. All Natsuna has is a sketch of a landscape, and she gets on a train with no real plan. Then the city she finds isn't the one from the drawing. Roads are cracked, houses sit empty, and she has no idea where to even start looking. A policeman points her toward a middle schooler named Izumi, a girl with enough energy to power the whole prefecture, and her family takes Natsuna in without asking too many questions. They feed her, give her a place to sleep, and share whatever they know about the missing. Day after day, Natsuna follows leads that go nowhere, and the closer she gets to the truth about Itsuki, the less certain she is that she wants to hear it. But will she find her friend, or only the person she used to be?
