People keep vanishing from Tatsumi Town. No note, no trace, just gone. Kaito Kiriya starts dreaming about a girl with pointed ears, and after that he can't stop hunting for one specific book, a book about another world. Meanwhile Mao, a beast girl from that other world, slips into town looking for her friend Zero, who disappeared a long time ago. She doesn't find him. She finds Souma and Kureha instead, and when she heads home, she drags them along by accident. Now the two of them are stuck somewhere they've never been, surrounded by strangers, trying to figure out how to get back. Souma thinks it's just a matter of finding the right door. It isn't. Something in the dark is already moving, and it wants them there. Why did Mao come looking for Zero in Tatsumi Town, of all places?
