Cinque Izumi is just a regular kid at an international school in Japan, the sporty type, the kind who's always up for something. Then one day he blinks and he's standing in Flonyard, a place where everyone looks human until you notice the ears and the tails. Princess Millhiore, who has dog ears of her own, pulled him across worlds because her country, Biscotti, is about to be invaded by the cat army of Galette. He agrees to help. He gets a sacred weapon called the Palladion and becomes Biscotti's hero. Here's the strange part: war in this world doesn't kill anyone. It's played almost like a sport, and the winning kingdom just walks away with more money. Cinque wins his first fight, feels pretty good about it, and then someone tells him the truth. Summoned heroes can't go home. Millhiore didn't even know that when she called him. So now Biscotti's scientists have sixteen days to find a way to send him back, because in sixteen days he promised his friend Rebecca he'd spend the last three days of spring break with her. Until they crack it, he keeps fighting for Millhiore. Sixteen days sounds like plenty. What happens if it isn't?
