Yuki loves school. The classrooms, the clubroom, the slow afternoons with her friends. Every day she meets Yuuri, Kurumi, Miki, their teacher Megumi, and the club dog Taroumaru, and every day the School Living Club finds new ways to enjoy life inside the gates. One rule holds it all together: nobody leaves the grounds. Ever. Then the cracks show. The school Yuki loves is not the school she is standing in. What she sees and what is actually there are two different places, and the other girls let her keep believing, because the truth is something you survive rather than talk about. Barricades. Supplies counted one by one. A building that has become a shelter, and a girl inside it who still writes on the chalkboard as if class were about to start. Yuki keeps smiling through all of it, and that might be the only thing holding the group together. Or it might be the thing that gets them killed. How long can you pretend the world is fine before the world decides for you?
