Demons are pouring into 1920s Japan, and the government's answer is a fleet of steam powered robot suits. Problem is, only young women with the right mix of virtue and spirit can actually pilot the things. So Sakura leaves her quiet countryside life behind and heads to the Imperial Capital, ready to serve. Then she meets her new unit. The Imperial Flower Combat Troop. Except nobody outside the barracks knows that name. On paper these soldiers are a musical theatre company, and they commit to the bit. Costumes, rehearsals, line readings, the whole routine. Sakura came to fight and now she has to learn choreography too. The demons are still coming, though, and the stage lights do not stop them. Between memorizing her part and climbing into a boiler powered machine, Sakura is stretched in every direction, and the other girls are not exactly rolling out a welcome mat. Can a rookie who cannot even hit her marks on stage really hold the line when the real curtain goes up?
