Years back, humans and demons shared the same streets without a second thought. That ended the day demons turned on people and started whispering about Gyumao, an ancient evil locked away for thousands of years. Someone wants him breathing again. Genjo Sanzo is a Buddhist priest with a short temper and a high opinion of himself. A voice keeps pulling at him, breaking his quiet, so he climbs into the mountains and finds Goku: a golden-eyed kid with no memory of who he is. The gods hand Sanzo a job. Stop the resurrection. Keep the world from tipping over. So he gathers three demons: Gojyo, a half-demon with red hair and a mouth on him, and Hakkai, who smiles a lot and hides some serious magic. Four of them head west, into danger, into fights they probably cannot win. What none of them realize is how badly their fates are already tangled together. And what happens when the four of them finally learn the truth about why they were chosen?
