Four travelers keep heading west: a priest named Sanzo with a gun in one hand and a cigarette in the other, plus Hakkai, Gojyo, and Goku. They have one job. Stop the demon Gyoumao from coming back. Word of who they are travels faster than they do, so hired demons show up around every bend, at inns, on mountain roads, in the middle of nowhere. Then things get worse in a way none of them saw coming. The attacks are not the real problem. Something that calls itself a god wants them broken, and it knows exactly where to push: the cracks between the four of them. Doubt, old grudges, the stuff they never say out loud. So now they fight two wars at once. One against whatever is trying to kill them that week, one against the suspicion creeping into their own camp. Can they hold it together long enough to reach the demon, or is that exactly what the god is counting on?
