When his father vanishes without a word, Itsuki Iba inherits the family trade: a dispatch service that sends magicians and stranger things out on contract jobs. The guild is called Astral, it has run for decades, and it comes with a staff of skilled sorcerers who have no patience for a nervous teenager giving orders. And Itsuki is nervous. He jumps at noises, he stumbles over his own commands, he would rather hide behind a desk than stand at the front of a job. Here is the twist. To keep the guild's license, he has to personally reach every single employee and get them on board. Most of them look at him like he is a placeholder, and a few are openly hostile. That is before the outsiders show up, rivals and enemies who have been waiting for the Iba family to look weak, and who now see their opening. So the coward has to walk into operations himself, face down threats that have been circling this business for years, and somehow hold a fractured crew together. Can a kid who flinches at his own shadow really keep a guild of sorcerers alive, or will Astral fall apart before he learns how to lead it?
