Masahiro has one job in life: become an onmyoji like his grandfather, the legendary Abe no Seimei. There is a catch. The boy cannot see spirits at all, and without that sixth sense he is useless. So he quietly gives up and starts looking at ordinary trades instead. Then a fox creature with red feathers walks into his life. Masahiro can see it. He names it Mokkun, and the two of them take down a demon together, which pulls something out of him he did not know was there. Now he is chasing his grandfather's shadow with a partner who is clearly hiding more than he lets on. Every spirit they face seems to drag Mokkun's real identity closer to the surface. What exactly is Mokkun, and why did he choose this boy?
