Izumiko has spent fifteen years tucked away in a mountain shrine, and she is sick of it. She wants a normal life, normal friends, a normal school. Small problem: every phone, laptop and camera she touches dies on the spot. So she cuts her bangs as a declaration, and that one little act is enough to turn her whole world upside down. Her guardian drags his son Miyuki down from Tokyo and hands him a job he never asked for: spend the rest of his life watching over her. Miyuki remembers her as the weird kid he used to torment. He does not buy any of it. Then a school trip goes sideways, and Izumiko finds out she is not just a shy girl with a strange talent. She is a vessel for the gods, and Miyuki is bound to her whether he likes it or not. Now they are stuck together, two people who cannot stand each other, in the middle of something much older and much bigger than either of them. Can they figure out how to trust each other before whatever is hunting her finds her first?
