Kenji Seki has his mornings down to a science. Walk the dog along the beach, steal a look at Kahori on her surfboard, then fall in step with Natsuki for the trip to school. That is the whole routine, and honestly, the only hard part is finding the right words to tell Kahori how he feels. Then a transfer student named Ryouichi Kyougoku walks into class eight and the routine starts coming apart at the seams. Here is the strange thing. Everyone else acts like Ryouichi is normal, just a handsome new kid the girls blush over. Kenji is the only one who senses something off. One morning by the water he catches Ryouichi alone on the pier, staring out at the ocean like he has never seen it before, whispering to himself: so this is the Earth. After that, Kahori drifts toward Ryouichi. Natsuki pulls away the moment Kenji tries to talk about his feelings. Even the school is changing, with the student council pushing to ban phones outright. Nobody is listening to Kenji, and he cannot tell if the new boy is dangerous or just better at all of this than he is. What does Ryouichi actually want with their quiet town?
