Ten years after Kakeru Naruse died, the old group climbs Mt. Koubou to see the cherry blossoms. Hiroto Suwa is 26 now, married to Naho, and Chino, Murasaka and Hagita are there too, cracking jokes, passing around snacks. Then the sun starts to set and the talk turns to the friend who isn't standing with them. They drive to Kakeru's old house. His grandmother opens the door and tells them something they never knew about how he really died. That night Suwa can't sleep. Regret is a heavy thing, so he and the others sit down and write letters to the kids they used to be, sixteen and clueless. The letters travel back. Now teenage Suwa holds his own future in his hands, and he could push Kakeru and Naho together, the way he always meant to. Or he could keep quiet and let things stay the way they were. All he ever wanted was to give those two a future worth having. How do you hand someone a second chance without losing the life you already built?
