Raku just wants to get through high school without anyone finding out his dad runs a yakuza clan. There's also a locked pendant he's worn for ten years, a leftover from a promise he made as a kid to a girl who kept the only key. Simple enough, right? Then a girl with blonde hair and a temper storms into his life. Chitoge Kirisaki, just back from America. They take one look at each other and it's war. He thinks she's a gorilla in a skirt. She thinks he's spineless. So of course his father sits him down that same night and drops the bomb: to stop a gang war, Raku has to pretend he's dating the daughter of the Bee Hive's boss. The daughter is Chitoge. Say no, and the whole city burns. Now these two have to act like a couple in front of everyone, and the act is awful. Worse, other girls keep appearing, and each one somehow ties back to that promise and that little key. So who really holds it? And what happens when the pretending starts to feel like something else?
