Banri Tada steps onto the Tokyo campus for the opening ceremony and gets lost almost immediately. He falls in with another newbie, Mitsuo Yanagisawa, and the two of them wander into a girl carrying a bouquet. She smacks Mitsuo with the flowers and walks off without a word. Turns out she is Kouko Kaga, his childhood friend, and the two of them once promised to marry. Mitsuo ran from that promise and picked a university far from home to escape her. Kouko does not take the hint. She enrolls in the same school and keeps coming after her runaway fiance. Banri barely has time to settle in before Kouko crashes into his life for good. He came to Tokyo with a blank spot where his past should be, a hole left by an accident he cannot remember. New city, new friends, no history. He is figuring out who he wants to be when Kouko grabs hold of his days and refuses to let go. Somewhere between dodging her schemes and watching Mitsuo squirm, Banri starts to feel something he did not plan for. But the memories he lost are still out there, and people from his old life have not forgotten him. What happens when the past he cannot recall comes looking for the future he is trying to build?
