The aliens came in 2047 and flattened every major city on Earth in a single blow. The survivors pooled what they had left and built the Diffusor, a barrier that held the Februus back and bought six shaky years of peace. Hiroshi Akishima was just a kid when the attack killed his father. Now he wears the uniform of the Planetary Defense Forces Alliance, and he has been waiting for one thing: a chance to shoot back. Then the order comes down. The last plan, Plan Zed, calls for a full counterattack to take the planet back. It also calls for the Diffusor to be shut down and dropped. So the shield that has kept everyone alive goes dark, and the Februus get a clear shot at a world with nothing left to hide behind. Hiroshi finally gets the fight he wanted. He just has to fight it while the sky above him is wide open. Can a single desperate offensive end six years of fear, or did humanity just gamble away the only thing keeping it alive?
