Episode 3 · Ozma

Ozma

The sun cooks what's left of Earth. Sand everywhere, barely any people, and the ones still breathing are kept in line by an army of clones called the Ideal Children. Sam Coyne flies his trade ship over the dunes, minding his own business, when he spots destroyers from Theseus running down a lone flier. Then the sand shifts. Something enormous rises out of it: Ozma, a whale made of the desert itself. In the chaos Sam pulls a woman named Maya out of the waves and takes her aboard. She's the one Theseus wants. He heads for Oasis, figuring the city will swallow them both up, and maybe it would have. Except the commander of those destroyers isn't the type to lose a target. Soon Theseus ships are sitting right there in Oasis, and Sam's little act of kindness has turned into something much bigger than he bargained for. What exactly is Maya running from, and why does an entire clone army care more about one girl than it does about the dying planet?
