Nanoha Takamachi is nine years old and her biggest problem is getting home in time for dinner. Then she finds a wounded ferret in the grass, and the ferret starts talking inside her head. His name is Yuuno, he comes from another world, and he needs her help. Twenty one Jewel Seeds are scattered somewhere on Earth, and each one can turn a normal animal into a monster. So Yuuno hands her a talking wand called Raising Heart and teaches her a few spells. She turns out to be a natural. Then Fate shows up. Same age, same mission, and much stronger. She takes the Seeds Nanoha is hunting, says nothing about why, and vanishes. Nanoha catches something sad in her eyes, but Fate will not talk, will not explain, and will not stop. Every fight between them is a race for the same prize, and only one of them knows what is actually at stake. The two girls keep meeting, keep clashing, and the reason behind Fate's cold silence slowly surfaces. What happens when the person standing in your way is carrying a pain you cannot see?
