A talking lizard shows up in Yuuhi Amamiya's dorm room with news that the planet is about to get smashed. An evil mage named Animus has parked a giant hammer in orbit and plans to bring it down. The lizard, Sir Noi Crezant, has already picked Yuuhi as one of the Beast Knights, sworn to guard the princess and stop the whole thing. Yuuhi shrugs it off and goes back to his day. Then a golem bursts in and nearly kills him. His neighbor Samidare saves his life. She is the princess, the last hope of humanity, and she has her own plan: once Animus is finished, she intends to destroy the world herself, with her bare hands. Something about that insane resolve hooks Yuuhi. He swears himself to her instead, and just like that the two of them are out there smashing golems, hunting down the other knights, learning to use powers nobody explained to them. Somewhere in all of it, Yuuhi starts to actually care about being alive. His old scars have other ideas. Can a guy who keeps promising himself he will deal with it tomorrow really pick a side before the sky falls?
