Kanade grew up with a violin in her hands, and everybody around her was sure she was headed somewhere big. Then the years passed, things changed, and she ended up enrolling at Seisou Academy. Wrong moment? Maybe. The school's orchestra club is already grinding toward the national competition, and she walks straight into it. Here is the strange part. She joins in, and suddenly the quiet transfer student is standing in the middle of a room full of boys who all play like their lives depend on it. Rivals show up from other schools. Rehearsals run long. Somewhere between the scales and the arguments, this summer starts turning into something she will not forget. So what happens when a girl who once had a future picked out for her has to earn it again, note by note, in front of everyone?
