Something tears Futagami Island apart in a single blast, and nobody watching from the mainland can say what it was. Professor Katou doesn't care. He has his Tartarus Knights, a crew of warriors who answer only to him, and a research station on that same island that he plans to use as the first domino in a very long campaign against the rest of the world. From where he stands, the outcome is already settled. Then the island answers back. A fortress he never accounted for sits at the edge of his operation, and out of it come three humanoid machines, Dangaioh, piloted by people Katou has clearly never met. The station stops being a staging ground and turns into a battlefield, and the man who thought he was unopposed now has to fight for ground he assumed was his. Tartarus Knights against a defense nobody knew existed. Katou has the numbers, the plan, and the head start. But what exactly is guarding Futagami, and why was it built to wait for him?
