The year is 3567, and Earth is a scrap heap. What's left of mankind huddles in the bones of dead cities, and the machines that keep the lights on don't need anyone to fix them. They just run. Above it all hangs the Moon, and from the Moon come the Gardeners: unmanned killing machines that drop out of the sky in ranks and wipe out whatever's in front of them. So kids pick up weapons and go hunt the things. Not for glory. For food. Then Tokito Aizawa runs into a girl named Tea, and something inside him cracks open. A power, older than the Gardeners, older than the war, older than anything he's ever been taught to be afraid of. He didn't ask for it. It just wakes up. Now he's got a target on his back, a girl nobody can explain, and a fight on his hands that's bigger than any bounty he's ever chased. Is the thing waking up inside him the weapon that saves everyone, or the one that finishes what the Gardeners started?
