Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
After the Laughing Man mess finally goes quiet, Japan gets a new prime minister, Youko Kayabuki, and she brings Section 9 back from the dead. Their job: cyber-terrorism, which never really stops. Then a cult of suicide bombers calling themselves the Individual Eleven starts leaving bodies all over the country, and Motoko Kusanagi and Batou have a new name to chase. Meanwhile the government is dealing with something messier. Refugees from the Third World War keep washing up on Japan's shores, the public is furious, and war talk is getting louder. Every time Section 9 digs into the Eleven, a man from the Cabinet Intelligence Service, Gouda Kazundo, is already standing there. Coincidence? Aramaki doesn't believe in those. The deeper the team goes, the harder it gets to tell the two crises apart. Are the bombings just a smokescreen for the refugee standoff, or is someone using the refugees to hide the Eleven? And who exactly is Gouda working for?
