Yuu Haruna just moved to Tokyo with his sisters, and he barely looks up from his phone. One evening he is scrolling Twitter on his way to grab dinner when a girl slams into him at full speed. She thinks he was snapping photos under her skirt, so she grabs his phone, smashes it on the ground, slaps him and walks off. Great first impression. Then he finds out she sits in his new class. Her name is Fuuka Akitsuki, and she is a walking anachronism: no smartphone, not even a flip phone. She carries a CD player and actual discs. While everyone else stares at screens, she listens. That clash pulls him in. She drags Yuu into her world of music, and somewhere along the way he stops caring about his feed and starts caring about her. They round up friends, plug in instruments, and aim for something real: a band, maybe even a professional one. But a band is a loud, messy thing, and feelings in it get louder and messier. Yuu has never had to fight for anything before. Can a guy who used to live through a screen keep up with a girl who refuses to?
