Naota is twelve, and his town is the kind where nothing ever happens. His brother left for America to play baseball, so Naota inherited the top bunk, the leftovers, and Mamimi, his brother's girlfriend, who keeps hanging around like she forgot to go home. Then a girl on a Vespa runs him over. Her name is Haruko, she plays a bass guitar, and the next thing Naota knows she is living in his house and working as the family maid. Also, there is a horn growing out of his head. It gets worse. Giant robots from Medical Mechanica start pushing their way out of his skull at the worst possible moments, wrecking the house, the town, whatever is nearby. Mamimi watches. A commander named Amarao watches too, convinced Medical Mechanica is out to conquer the galaxy, and Naota is stuck right in the middle of a three way fight between Haruko, Amarao and the robots. He just wants a quiet life. So why does everyone keep acting like his head is the most important thing on Earth?
