Gaku Kitada has spent his whole life chasing one thing: numbers. At the elite Wels Academy he was supposed to qualify for the Math Olympiad, then glide straight into the University of Tokyo. Instead, standing at the board during the biggest exam of his life, his nerves eat him alive. He chokes. He quits competing. The school kicks him out. Then a stranger steps in. Kai Asakura, a chef with a reputation and a plan, watches Gaku throw together a meal and sees something nobody else noticed: the kid cooks like he's solving an equation, balancing flavors the way you balance terms. Gaku has barely held a knife before. Doesn't matter. Kai drags him into professional kitchens anyway, into a world of Michelin stars and impossible standards, where Kai himself is chasing nothing less than a revolution in cooking. So now Gaku is standing at a stove instead of a chalkboard, trying to figure out if a life of garlic and heat can satisfy the same brain that once lived for proofs. And Kai, who clearly wants something out of this partnership, isn't saying exactly what. Can a failed mathematician really plate a dish that makes people stop talking?
