A small run-down building sits in the mountains, far from the polished halls of Kunugigaoka Middle School. That's where Class 3-E ends up. The dropouts, the troublemakers, the kids nobody expects anything from. Then the government hands them a job: kill their new teacher. He's the one who blew apart 70 percent of the moon, and he says that if nobody finishes him off within a year, Earth is next. Oh, and he moves at Mach 20. Good luck with that. Every weapon they throw at him fails. He dodges, he regenerates, he smiles that weird rubbery smile. But here's the part that really messes with their heads: he's also the best teacher any of them have ever had. He drills them in math and marksmanship, pushes them to aim higher than the main campus ever let them. Nagisa Shiota and his classmates keep hunting for a weakness while trying not to actually like the guy they're supposed to murder. So how do you kill something that fast, that tough, and that kind? And what happens to Class 3-E if they actually pull it off?
