A giant thing hangs over the city, too big and too strange to be from here. Security crews rope off the streets. Everyone else just stands around, staring up, not sure what they are looking at. Then Yuki catches a classmate of hers, Tetsu, keeping something in the alley. A creature. He calls it Cenco, and it can turn into whatever he wants, a wall, a weapon, anything. Yuki thinks it is the coolest thing she has ever seen and keeps coming back for more. She should have asked why Tetsu never talks to anyone. Another guy named Shuu shows up and goes straight for them in the middle of the street, no warning, a monster of his own at his back. He wants to feed Cenco to it. Whatever is floating above the city, he has something to do with it, and he is not hiding it. Now Yuki is stuck in the middle of a fight between two boys who barely speak, with a pet that keeps changing shape and a sky full of something nobody can explain. How much does she really know about the quiet kid she decided to follow?
