Four tiny fairies climb out of their bottle homes into Japan, 2004. Kururu bounces off the walls, Chiriri keeps her manners, Sarara would rather swing a sword than sip tea, and Hororo drifts along saying almost nothing. They came because human life looked fun. Festivals, school, all of it. The problem is they have no idea how any of it actually works. Then a university student takes them in, and a first grader named Tama starts showing them around. Between the two of them, the fairies have guides. Not that it helps much, since Tama gets confused just as fast as they do. A bath turns into a flood. A holiday turns into chaos. Every small thing humans do without thinking becomes a puzzle the fairies have to crack, and they crack it in the strangest way possible. They mean well. That is what makes it funny, and also what makes you wince when a simple errand goes sideways. Four little colors, one apartment, and a whole country full of customs nobody explained to them. Can a fairy who has never seen a rice cooker figure out dinner before Sensei-san gets home?
