Back in 2023, a virus swept the planet, and the cure came as a thread. Smart thread. It slipped under the skin, logged everything a person saw, heard, felt, and the world lined up to get wired. Convenient, sure. Until you realize every memory you own is now somebody else's file. Echika Hieda works those files for a living. She dives into people's heads, digs through their worst moments for evidence, and she is brutally fast at it. Her assistants? They burn out. Brains fried, one after another, until the brass hand her a partner built to survive her: Harold Lucraft, an android with a genius streak and a mouth that will not quit. He needles her. She does not trust him. Then the cases stop being ordinary, and the two of them are the only ones who might hold the line. Corporate plots. A technological infection spreading faster than anyone can track it. Can two people who can barely stand each other really stop what is already inside everyone's head?
