Four girls in school uniforms walk across ground where nothing grows. No sound except their footsteps. They were sent six thousand years ahead, pulled out of a present where the same day keeps repeating, over and over, and the only reason they got picked was a test back in class that said they were suited for this. Time travel was a school subject. Now it is just dirt under their shoes. All they brought along is a cheap little phone that looks like a toy, and out here it gets no signal at all. Nobody told them what to do once they arrived. Then the empty world starts showing things it should not. Odd birds cross the sky. A river in the distance has lost its color, like something drained it. And one of the girls stops in front of an abandoned house, because the name carved on the gate is one she knows. Who lived there, and why does she recognize it six thousand years from home?
