Nanami starts high school with one simple plan: make as many friends as she can. Then she asks the girl next to her about Motoharu Yano, the boy half the class whispers about, and Yuri's answer is flat. She doesn't like him. Not even a little. What Nanami doesn't know is that she already met him. He walked her to class one day, gave her a fake name, and let the whole mess unfold at a class event where she said the wrong name out loud in front of everyone. She's furious at first. Then she isn't. Here's the part nobody warns her about. Yano isn't just some popular guy with an attitude. His girlfriend Nana died in a car crash a year ago, and she was with one of her ex boyfriends when it happened. The two of them start dating anyway, and from the very first day Nanami is standing in a shadow she can't see the edges of. Yano shuts down when it matters most. Small silences turn into misunderstandings, and every fight leaves her wondering if she's competing with a ghost. Can you ever really be with someone who is still halfway somewhere else?
