Seventeen years old and stuck in a hospital room, cut off from his friends while hepatitis A runs its course. Yuuichi is bored out of his mind. So he starts slipping out at night, and a nurse catches him, and she hits him for it. He keeps going anyway, just quieter about it. Then on one of those walks he runs into Rika Akiba, a girl his own age. Gorgeous. And a total pain: bossy, moody, selfish, used to getting her way. She has spent most of her life in hospitals because of a bad heart. Maybe that explains the attitude. The two of them keep crossing paths, killing time together, and somewhere in there it stops being about boredom. Rika has been refusing a risky surgery. With Yuuichi around, something in her starts to shift. A hotshot young surgeon named Goro Natsume shows up to perform the operation. So what happens after? Can two sick teenagers actually build something together, or do they just crawl back into their own shells?
