A girl who grew up running with the animals in the mountains walks into a city built like a maze. Ten districts, winding streets, and a shop called Urara where girls train to become diviners, the kind who can pull answers out of thin air. Chiya barely knows how any of this works. She just knows she has to find someone: her mother, gone without a trace. Then the training starts, and it is not gentle. Chiya shares a cramped room with three other girls. Kon studies like her life depends on it, Koume is obsessed with anything Western, and Nono can hardly finish a sentence without hiding. Divining, it turns out, means guessing with your gut and hoping the gods feel like helping, which is a terrible plan and the only one they have. Somehow, the four of them make it work. Chiya wanted a quiet search for one missing person. Instead she got roommates, rivalries, and a whole town watching to see if a wild kid from the mountains can pass as a proper fortune teller. Every question they answer brings her closer to something she might not be ready for. Does she even know what she will do if the cards finally point her home?
