A train pulls into a station and two people step off. One is a tall man carrying an enormous coffin on his back. The other is a small, delicate girl with a foul temper. They are not lovers. They are coworkers from the Order of Magical Resonance, a group of mages who exist to solve magical problems with magic. Their mission looks simple enough: find the witch rumored to be hiding in this prosperous town and destroy her. Except the witch they came to kill is the town's beloved hero. She spends every waking hour protecting these people, and they adore her for it. So what does that mean? That witches are not absolute evil? That maybe the Order's work is not the clean, righteous thing Ashaf and Guideau thought it was? Guideau does not care about any of that. She wants revenge on the witch who cursed her, and she will tear through anyone standing in her way. The pair keeps traveling, taking on stranger and stranger cases as they go. But the closer they get to the truth, the less certain the whole hunt becomes. When the hero saving everyone is the monster you were sent to kill, who exactly is the villain here?
